The City’s drainage system is still in deplorable condition due to decades of neglect. The funds for this project allows the City to address the large backlog of work that is needed. This project will help reduce flooding, reduce sinkholes from failed infrastructure, and protect all the City’s other infrastructure, which can be damaged by poor drainage.
The City’s backlog of work far exceeds the amount requested but $10,000,000 will allow the City to continue to move in the right direction.
The Amiss intake structure is where all the City of Shreveport’s water comes into the Water Treatment Facility. It was built more than 50 years ago, and it’s rusty.
